FAQ

Common questions about using Orange Memo. Tap a question to see the answer.

Getting started

What is Orange Memo?
A capture-first memo and task app. You never pick a folder before writing — the app opens straight to the input box. Turn a note into an event, task, or project later, once it actually needs to be one. “Capture first. Organize later.” is how it works.
How is it different from a typical note app?
Most note apps make you decide where a note belongs before you type a word. Orange Memo runs the other way: Capture → Organize if needed → Act. A passing thought never waits on a filing decision.
How many taps does it take to save a note?
Open, type, send. Two taps besides the typing. Tapping the classify button to file it as a task or event makes it three.
Can I organize a note after writing it?
That is the whole point. Capture first, then turn it into an event, task, project, or project task whenever you want. Leaving it as a plain record forever works just as well.
What happens when I type a long note?
On screens with no separate title field, Orange Memo splits the text for you. Entries of 20 characters or fewer become the title as-is. Longer ones use the opening as the title and keep the full text in the details. A note containing only a URL is stored whole. On edit screens that already have Title and Details fields, what you type is what gets stored.

Capturing and attachments

Can I attach photos and files?
Attach a camera photo, an existing photo, a file, or a voice recording. When a record with attachments becomes a task or event, the attachments follow it.
Do photos taken in the app also go to my gallery?
Photos taken inside Orange Memo stay inside the app. Your gallery stays clean. Send a specific photo to the gallery with “Save to device” when you want it there.
Can I send text or links from other apps?
Use Android’s Share feature to send text or a web link from any app. It lands as a record first, and you organize it later.
Can I keep web links and email addresses inside a note?
URLs and email addresses inside the details are recognized as links. No separate “link note” needed.
Are there any length limits?
The details of one card hold 5,000 characters. A project holds up to 50 tasks. Email attachments total up to 20 MB.

Organizing and acting

What does the Today screen show?
Only what needs attention now: dated events, tasks, and project tasks on one screen. Pin the important ones to keep them on top.
What is the difference between a Task and a Project Task?
A Task stands on its own. A Project Task belongs to a specific project, and a project holds as many as you need.
What is a Next Action?
The one task in a project to handle first. Mark it, and the starting point stays obvious no matter how many tasks the project holds.
How are task statuses handled?
Three states: In progress, On hold, Completed. The filter at the top switches between them.
Can I email a project with its files?
Orange Memo assembles the project’s tasks along with its photos, files, and voice recordings and hands the whole thing to your mail app in one step. Nothing to gather by hand. Attachments total up to 20 MB.

Events and reminders

Does Orange Memo support recurring events?
Daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly. Orange Memo does not stack up hundreds of duplicated rows — it stores one recurrence rule and calculates the occurrences a screen needs.
How do I change the recurrence of an existing series?
Delete the series and create a new one. Opening a recurring event shows its recurrence as read-only: because occurrences are calculated from the rule, changing the pattern midway would put past and future occurrences out of step. Title, time, and details stay editable at any point.
Can I set reminders for events?
Set a reminder on any timed event: None, At time, 10 minutes before, or 1 hour before. All-day events carry no reminder.
Do recurring events send reminders?
Recurring events have no reminders. Pick a repeat and the reminder option does not appear at all. Reminders work on timed, one-off events.

Google Calendar

Can Orange Memo connect to Google Calendar?
Orange Memo exports to Google Calendar. Events you create here show up there too.
Will events be added to my existing calendar?
No. Connecting creates a calendar dedicated to Orange Memo, and events go only into that one. The calendars you already use are never read or modified.
If I edit an event in Google Calendar, does Orange Memo update?
It does not. Orange Memo is the source of truth. What you create, edit, or delete here is pushed out to Google Calendar; nothing comes back the other way.
Does disconnecting delete the events in Google Calendar?
It does not. Disconnecting clears the connection on this device only. The dedicated calendar and everything in it stays put.

Search

Does search only look at titles?
It searches the body of your records plus the titles and details of events, tasks, and projects. Narrow by category, date, or keyword. URLs and email addresses written inside a record are searchable too.
Are recordings and attachments searchable?
File names themselves are not searched. Whatever you type alongside a recording or photo becomes the record’s body and is fully searchable. So when you save a recording you will want later, add one line — that line is how you find it.

Data and backups

Where is my data stored?
On your device. Nothing routes through a server, so notes save instantly with no connection and never leave the phone. Syncing notes across devices isn't supported yet. Export a backup now and then so a new phone or a reset costs you nothing.
How do backups work?
Settings has four tools. 1) Create Backup — writes a backup file inside the app. 2) Restore Internal Backup — rolls back to a backup held in the app. 3) Import External Backup — restores from a backup file stored elsewhere on your device. 4) Export Backup File — sends an internal backup to Google Drive, Files, or anywhere you choose. You decide when to back up; nothing runs on its own, so run it yourself.
Do backups include photos and recordings?
One backup file carries all your data plus every photo, file, and voice recording. Nothing to collect separately.
Does restoring merge with my current data?
It replaces rather than merges. The data on this device is swapped for the contents of the backup. Back up the current state first. Settings and screens finish updating once you restart the app.
Can I move my data to a new phone?
On the old phone, Export Backup File to save a copy outside the app. On the new phone, Import External Backup and pick that file.
Can I recover something I deleted?
Deleted items sit in Trash for 30 days. Restore from there, optionally together with their linked items. Emptying the Trash or deleting all data is final.
Does Delete All Data also remove internal backups?
It does not. Delete All Data clears the records you are working with and keeps internal backup files so you can still restore. Deleting your account with local data selected removes internal backups along with everything else.
Will uninstalling the app delete my notes?
It will. Data lives on the device, so uninstalling or clearing app data takes your records with it. Export a backup outside the app before you uninstall.

Account and privacy

Can I use Orange Memo without signing in?
Capturing, tasks, projects — every core feature runs with no account. Google or Kakao sign-in is needed only to connect Google Calendar.
Can I delete my account?
Delete it from account settings inside the app. A web page covers the same ground in case you cannot open the app.
Does deleting my account erase the notes on my phone?
Your notes stay. Deleting the account removes the sign-in and the Google Calendar connection from this device. Only when you also tick “delete all notes and attachments on this device” are your records erased, and that is final.
Is anything left after I delete my account?
Three things: your Google or Kakao account itself, events already pushed to Google Calendar, and backup files saved outside the app. Clear those from the respective services yourself.
Where can I read the Privacy Policy?
On the Privacy Policy page linked below.

Everything else

Does Orange Memo show ads?
One banner sits at the bottom of the capture screen. No full-screen interstitials, no rewarded video, nothing when you open the app. Ad providers process device and advertising identifiers to serve that banner; the Privacy Policy has the details.
Does it work offline?
Capturing, tasks, and projects run with no connection at all. Internet is needed only for Google sign-in, Google Calendar export, and other online features.
Is there a dark mode?
Orange Memo runs on the light theme. Dark mode is not in this version.
Is there an iOS version?
Orange Memo is an Android app. There is no iOS version yet.
Is there a desktop version?
Orange Memo is an Android app. This website carries product information, the Privacy Policy, and account-deletion instructions — it is not an editor for your records.
Which languages are supported?
Korean and English, switched automatically by your device’s system language.
How do I report a bug or contact support?
Email the address below. Tell us your phone model, Android version, the screen where it happened, and what you were doing — that turns a guess into a fix.
